Focusing on Peripheral Artery Disease

Array

VascularCures is launching a powerful initiative that will be the first and only national research program focused on peripheral artery disease (PAD). PAD affects 8-12 million Americans, is a strong indicator of heart disease and is closely linked to kidney failure. Those with PAD have three times the risk of having a heart attack or stroke.

The new PAD intitiative will build on two highly successful VascularCures programs - the Laboratory for Accelerated Vascular Research at UCSF and the Wylie Scholar Awards. It will bring together scientists and clinicians from disciplines such as radiology and biomedical science, and ultimately include up to eight other institutions to share core resources such as tissue banks and drug and technology development capabilities.

Renowned vascular surgeon-scientists Michael S. Conte, M.D. will lead the program. Dr. Conte is Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco and a director of VascularCures.

Your support will insure that a national consortium with a focused, innovative approach to PAD will become a reality - potentially saving millions of lives and dollars. Please give today.
