FAVR -Accelerating Research for a Cure

“Vascular disease remains one of the most undiagnosed and under treated of all diseases today.”- Rajabrata Sarker, MD, PhD, 2005 Wylie Scholar Award Recipient

The Foundation for Accelerated Vascular Research is determined to prevent death and disability from vascular disease. Through a novel research model based on Investigational Collaboration Units (ICUs), FAVR will drive patient focused and clinical driven research projects toward solutions that will save lives. Teams of clinical scientists, who work directly with patients, and basic researchers will collaborate to solve vascular problems, like aneurysm growth, blood clot formation and vein diseases. The overall goal is to bring new vascular treatments to patients within 3 to 5 years.

FAVR's programs are driven by venture philanthropy. Each ICU is seeded by philanthropic investments, supplemented in time with IP-derived revenue and private and public grants. A Scientific Advisory Board manages each ICU's research plan and budget. FAVR's ICU model is expected to cut the time to develop patient treatments by as much as 50%.

FAVR is working with FasterCures – The Center for Accelerating Medical Solutions to stop the rise in vascular disease. Learn more about FasterCures…
