I had seizures for 13 years due to a vascular problem in my brain – forcing major changes in my life as a young wife and mother of two small children. After more than 20 years of working in companies developing new medical treatments, I know the obstacles in getting these to suffering patients in time. I joined Vascular Cures because it specifically designs its programs to speed the process of preventing disability and death.
Vascular Cures is committed to transforming medicine, investing in innovative doctors and breakthrough research for almost 30 years. Although important medical research is underway, results are often slow in coming due to the gaps between laboratory research and the doctors who see real patients. We need investment in new ways of doing research, not just in research itself.
We’ve launched the first national vascular research consortium, a collaborative network of world-class specialists who will use the latest discoveries in human genetics to find new ways to treat and prevent vascular disease. We’re also creating a national “biobank,” using the experience of thousands of patients to identify the unique biological factors that predict both problems and responses to new treatments. There has never been a national effort on this scale in vascular disease.
Making the most of your resources is vital. We make that commitment. I invite you to spend some time on our website to hear patient stories and learn about what we are doing to prevent the terrible impact of vascular disease.
